The selection of wild card bands and determination of the final schedule will be posted on Monday, March 15th.
The following bands have qualified for the Iowa Jazz Championships (by finishing first or second at their district jazz festival):
Class 1A: DSM Christian, Lynnville-Sully, Southern Cal, Rockwell City, Aurelia, LeMars Gehlen, Treynor, Mount Ayr, North Mahaska, Lone Tree, Lisbon, Northern University
Class 2A: Roland Story, North Polk, St. Edmonds, Prairie Valley, Cherokee, Rock Valley, Clarinda, IKM Manning, Turkey Valley, Maquoketa Valley, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Iowa City Regina
Class 3A: Pella, Centerville, Hampton Dumont, Webster City, MOC Floyd Valley, LeMars, Harlan, Glenwood, Oskaloosa, Mt. Pleasant, Independence, Vinton-Shellsburg
Class 4A: Waukee, Johnston, Sioux City West, Sioux City North, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, Lewis Central, Iowa City West, Iowa City High, Cedar Rapids Washington, Cedar Falls
The following bands are eligible for a wild card invitation to the Iowa Jazz Championships by having met one of the three necessary criteria (finishing ahead of an automatically qualified band, winning an independent Iowa jazz festival, or finishing 3rd at their district jazz festival). There are typically three wild card invitations issued per class. There is no "point system"; the board of the Iowa Jazz Championships evaluates all eligible bands and selects the most qualified based on the previously listed criteria.
Class 1A: Moulton-Udell, SE Webster, Moravia, East Greene, Ventura, MMC (Marcus), Lamoni, GMG, HLV, East Mills, North Butler
Class 2A: Woodward-Granger, Central Springs, Okoboji, Nodaway Valley, West Branch, Hudson, Mid Prairie
Class 3A: Winterset, Charles City, Spirit Lake, Denison, West Delaware, Williamsburg, Norwalk, Clear Creek-Amana, Independence B, Center Point-Urbana, Keokuk, Waverly Shell Rock
Class 4A: WDM Valley, Sioux City East, Southeast Polk, DSM Hoover, Linn Mar, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, DSM Roosevelt, Lewis Central B, North Scott, Waterloo West, Newton, WDM Southwoods, Urbandale
